12-14 April 2002 This year's Craft, Critique, Culture: The University of Iowa's 2nd Annual Interdisciplinary Conference on Writing in the Academy will have a special focus on technologies of writing and the impact of media on the creation and reception of texts. Keynote speakers include Katherine Hayles and Shelley Jackson, celebrated author of Patchwork Girl.

29-31 May 2002 The 2nd International Conference on Adaptive Hypermedia and Adaptive Web Based Systems will be held in Mlaga, Spain, 29-31 May 2002. Tampere, Finland The Computer Games and Digital Cultures Conference will be held on June 6-8, 2002 in Tampere, Finland. Both specific analyses of games as a form of art and entertainment are welcome, as well as more general approaches dealing with the cultural practices related with games and social activities in online environments. The conference continues the series of international game studies conferences opened by Computer Games and Digital Textualities (Copenhagen, March 1-2, 2001).

17-20 June 2002 The Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau announces the IV Saln y Coloquio Internacional de Arte Digital (International Digital Art Exhibit and Colloquium) in Havana, Cuba. The annual event, which opens on 17 June 2002, exhibits work that represents the current field of digital art in Cuba and abroad, and convenes a series of meetings and discussions to encourage exchange and reflection among designers, artists, critics and scholars whose work is related to these new forms of expression. The exhibition has two juried components: a competitive exhibition of the work of resident Cuban artists, and an international exhibit, where the work of non-Cuban residents will be shown. Work selected by a jury of well-known artists and critics will be exhibited in the Sala Majadahonda of the Centro Pablo, galleries of the Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad, and in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. 27-31 October 2002 ISEA 2002, will be held on 27-31 October 2002 in Nagoya, Japan. The conference organizers expect nearly 1500 participants including artists, researchers, engineers, students, and presentations of over 200 papers and works from 30 countries around the world.
